Fashion’s Night Out LA
By: Aida
Fashion’s Night Out in LA had the entire city buzzing. With events going on at the Beverly Center, on Robertson Blvd, Melrose Ave, 3rd Street and much more– fashionistas had many options to choose from. I was lucky enough to win two front row fashion show tickets for the opening ceremony of FNOLA at the Beverly Center (Thank you @SLSHotel). I dragged hubby along and I’m so glad I did! Not only is he great company, but the crowd was also a lot larger then I expected and I needed someone with height to take pics!
Prior to the fashion show, we decided to make our way around the mall. With champagne and other cocktails flowing freely at almost all stores, this quickly became a very fun evening. Contrary to the lack of discounts offered at other neighboring FNOLA events, nearly every store at the Beverly Center had a store-wide discount offered along with a gift with purchase. One of the busiest stores (serving champagne and cupcakes) was the Charles David store. The designer himself was on hand to sign shoes, along with Who What Wear’s Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr acting as fashion consultants. The entire store was also marked down 20% for FNOLA.
At the opening ceremony fashion show, our Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was present to remind everyone to shop, shop, shop and stimulate our city’s economy. Joining him on stage were Will.I.Am, Sara Rue, Mena Suvari, Angelica Huston, other people I didn’t recognize and some executives from the Beverly Center. After a few random introductions and mini speeches, Perez Hilton came up on stage decked out in a purple suit, along with Stephanie Pratt from “The Hills” to start up the fashion show.
The Runway show featured Men’s and Women’s Fall/Winter looks from Bebe, Diesel, Forever 21, Guess, Hugo Boss, Politix, Traffic and True Religion just to name a few. All the latest trends were displayed including Faux fur, Leopard print, Leather & Lace, Military, etc.
A good time was definitely had by all. From what I saw, I think people were taking advantage of all the discounts offered. Almost everyone had a bag in hand from one of the participating stores. Surprisingly Bloomingdale’s was a ghost town and not offering much of an incentive to shop, other then the fact that FNOLA coincided with their HOT event. Overall, I think Beverly Center’s FNOLA event was a success and I think they will continue to participate for however long FNO goes on.
Take a look at some up close footage from this event:
